Aïdonidis fêtera dans un mois ses 80 ans… L’occasion d’une dernière tournée internationale pour cet artiste hellène, vedette intemporelle en Méditerranée et ailleurs, chantre de la musique de sa région d’origine, la Thrace, dont il a fait connaître en plus de 50 ans de carrière la fascinante délicatesse. Cette silhouette classique, en perpétuel costume cravate, surprend à l’écoute d’un répertoire qu’on qualifierait chez nous de musique du monde. Pétri d’influences indo-européennes au confluent de la Bulgarie, de la Turquie et de la Macédoine, le style « thraquiote » symbolisé par la gaïda – hybride de hautbois et de cornemuse, marie l’émotion des harmonies tziganes, à la rythmique et aux gammes mineures orientales. Chronis Aïdonidis a su populariser un style complexe en faisant passer par sa voix patriarcale tout le sensuel et le spirituel de cette musique pénétrante.
