Théâtre des Abbesses / tradition géorgienne
Ce groupe au nom difficilement prononçable témoigne de la vivacité des traditions en Géorgie. Chacun des musiciens est originaire de différentes parties du pays, et tous réunis représentent la diversité d’un terroir qui compte pas moins de seize styles de musique régionale. Organisant régulièrement des expéditions à travers le pays afin d’y inventorier le répertoire folklorique, Chveneburebi en délivre une synthèse originale, mettant l’accent sur le chant – non sans quelques pas de danse – essentiellement a cappella. Au programme : des chants de labeur, des hymnes à l’amour, des chansons d’ivresse, d’autres saluant les naissances comme les funérailles… Autant de témoignages d’une communauté vibrante aux sons d’une musique qui la soude malgré tous les aléas des temps modernes.
