Tokyo, mars 2003 : deux jeunes gens se rencontrent dans un concert rock. Pendant cinq jours, ils s’enferment dans un love hotel du quartier animé de Shibuya, décidant de s’isoler du monde pour s’adonner au seul plaisir sexuel. Pendant ce temps, les Etats-Unis lancent un ultimatum à l’Irak avant de le bombarder. La guerre sera-t-elle terminée quand ils sortiront de l’hôtel ? « L’auteur décrit une jeunesse nonchalante, désœuvrée, terrifiée par l’autre », dit le metteur en scène Jérôme Wacquiez. Installés hors du monde, dans une parenthèse « qui finalement n’aboutira à rien, dans une sorte de fatalité assumée », les sept personnages sont interprétés par des comédiens interchangeables, renforçant l’impression d’anomie et d’incommunicabilité, de perte des repères et de flottement des identités que l’écriture sans concession de Toshiki Okada décrit avec une rare acuité.
