En 1992, les usines Renault se taisaient définitivement sur l’Ile Seguin, qu’elles occupaient depuis 1929. Deux décennies et quelques projets d’aménagement après, la friche industrielle de 74 hectares commence sa mue, dessinée par les lignes inventives de l’architecte Jean Nouvel. Constituant l’un des plus importants pôles en émergence du Grand Paris, l’opération vise à créer un vaste ensemble alliant détente et culture d’ici 2018, avec notamment un équipement musical, une résidence pour artistes et étudiants, un multiplexe cinématographique, un lieu d’exposition, un centre de création numérique et une cité du cirque, confiée à Madona Bouglione qui vient de planter le premier chapiteau préfigurant le futur « Globe », conçu par le designer Philippe Starck.

« Le cirque n’a pas de frontière, il a la liberté de l’art. Cirque en Chantier / Le Globe pourrait être le symbole du monde dans lequel nous vivons, souligne cette personnalité du cirque, fille d’un des frères fondateurs de la célèbre enseigne Bouglione. Pourrait-il être le symbole de l’unité, réussir la réunion des cirques venus des quatre coins du monde, issus d’une même tradition, emportant dans leurs bagages leur histoire et leur culture ? ». La réponse se trouve peut-être déjà dans Pentimento, une version circassienne du ballet Le Lac des Cygnes, dirigée par Madona Bouglione elle-même, et dans Sarkha (Cri), spectacle de sortie de la deuxième promotion de l’Ecole Nationale des Arts du Cirque de Tunis, mise en scène par la chorégraphe Laurence Levasseur…
