Pourquoi avoir choisi l’itinérance hors les murs du Théâtre des Célestins ?
Claudia Stavisky : C’est un projet de décentralisation démocratique auquel nous tenons beaucoup ! Tout a commencé en 2004, avec la tournée sous chapiteau de La Cuisine, de Wesker. Les communes de l’ouest du Rhône n’ont pas beaucoup d’équipements en dur. On n’est qu’à cinquante kilomètres de Lyon à vol d’oiseau mais l’enfermement des Monts du Lyonnais en rend l’accès assez difficile. Cette expérience est extraordinaire ! Parfois, nous arrivons dans des villages minuscules où la presque totalité de la salle n’a jamais mis les pieds dans un théâtre. Les gens sont très contents d’accueillir les Célestins, comparables à la Comédie-Française dans la mythologie des Rhônalpins. On reste une semaine entre le montage et le démontage du chapiteau et pendant cette semaine, on crée en plus des petites formes chez les gens, dans les entreprises, les restaurants, les maisons de retraite, les bistrots… C’est incroyable comme les gens sont réceptifs ! Et cette année, c’est très impressionnant de constater comme Lorenzaccio et Musset sont populaires et fédérateurs. Epique, politique, romantique : de fait, tous les ingrédients sont là pour faire un grand spectacle populaire. La pièce dure deux heures trente sans entracte, les gens sont assis sur des bancs en bois et pas une mouche ne vole ! Le public suit la pièce comme un thriller !

Qu’est-ce qui vous plaît tant dans cette pièce ?
C. S. : C’est d’une banalité crasse, mais je trouve que l’écriture est d’une modernité à tomber par terre ! On peut profondément s’identifier avec l’analyse que fait Musset de l’utopie et du désenchantement. Cette jeunesse à laquelle il appartient, qui a cru à 1789 et arrive en 1830 politiquement désenchantée, me semble correspondre mot par mot à la jeunesse actuelle qui connaît ce même état de désenchantement majeur après l’utopie de 68 et ce qui s’est passé par la suite. Cette pièce me semble parler des trentenaires d’aujourd’hui. Et de ma génération, celle des cinquante/soixante ans, qui ressemble aux militants républicains de la pièce. Ma génération a cru corps et âme à l’utopie, elle a été bercée par 68. Aujourd’hui elle est au pouvoir : qu’a-t-elle fait de l’utopie ? La génération de nos enfants, celle de ma fille, vit dans un monde où elle ne peut pas imaginer une place pour vivre et continuer à lutter. Et ça, ça engendre la violence, comme dans la pièce.
