« Je sais ce que tu veux. Tu veux l’extase. Le désir et le rêve. Recréons le monde. Le palais de la conception brûle. », scandait l’incandescent Jim Morrison. Comme Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix et Janis Joplin, il avait vingt-sept ans quand il quitta violemment la vie en 1971. Rejointes dans la mort par Kurt Cobain, cofondateur de Nirvana, suicidé à vingt-sept ans en 1994, ces idoles qui révolutionnèrent la musique rock avec la rage insolente de leur jeunesse rebelle forment le « club des 27 ». Leurs destinées tragiques, brûlées par le désir ardent de vivre l’exaltation de chaque instant plutôt que de se résigner aux routines d’une existence grisâtre, résonnent aujourd’hui comme des cris libertaires face au morne conformisme qui guette notre époque, engoncée dans la crise et la servilité consumériste.
Comment vivre pleinement aujourd’hui ?
« Avec un père critique de rock, je suis né dans cette musique, à l’intérieur même de sa matière. » confie Guillaume Barbot. « Le théâtre est venu bien plus tard, par hasard, par esprit de contradiction. Trimballé toute mon enfance de concert en concert, mon désir vital de monter ce spectacle vient de là ; de cette puissance inégalable que touchent les chanteurs / stars de rock, de ce feu sacré. » Entouré d’une vingtaine d’artistes de toutes disciplines, l’auteur et metteur en scène compose depuis 2005 des spectacles à partir de matériaux non théâtraux (romans, témoignages, poésie) où s’entrecroisent le théâtre et la musique. Club 27 pénètre ainsi au cœur de la légende : les acteurs jouent avec ces figures tutélaires, ils chantent, se costument, se maquillent, dansent, incarnent ou simplement évoquent, accompagnés par le violon et la guitare d’un musicien. Au-delà du plaisir de (re)vivre ces années rock, Club 27 interroge l’état de la société actuelle : « Qui sont nos héros ? Qui adorer ? Et pour quelles révolutions ? ». Ces questions tonnent comme un riff électrique qui déchire le ronronnement tranquille du fatalisme ambiant, et font battre le cœur.
