Dans les années 80, du temps de la guerre froide, l’ennemi identifié de ce côté-ci du rideau de fer se délitait petit à petit. Symbolique et prémonitoire, l’accident en 1989 d’un Mig 23 – avion militaire russe abandonné par son pilote au-dessus de la Pologne qui est venu s’écraser tout seul sur un belge tranquillement endormi dans sa maison – sert de fil rouge à la fois absurde et éloquent à ce spectacle qui raille l’obsession contemporaine consistant à vouloir se préserver de tout danger. Et si à vouloir tant se prémunir, on finissait par tous se réfugier au théâtre ? Là encore, l’Histoire nous montre – via une prise d’otages par un commando tchétchène – que l’endroit n’est pas si sûr…
Les risques statistiques de la vie
On l’aura compris, dans cet esprit belge impertinent et créatif, Coalition détourne le tragique de l’Histoire en un théâtre performance décalé où défilent entre autres un pompier aux allures de cosmonaute, un comédien moscovite hilarant qui chante My Way devant les choeurs de l’armée russe, et un archer inquiétant qui face au public se prend pour Guillaume Tell. Pas de narration linéaire donc, mais à travers un ingénieux dispositif, l’entrelacement de thématiques et d’histoires vraies qui tournent toutes autour du danger. Le tout, sous les sentences et avertissements d’un écran qui égrène les risques statistiques de la vie, s’achève dans un gigantesque bain de mousse. Coalition est un spectacle burlesque et régénérant, qui sans être revendicatif – « au théâtre il n’y a que des gens qui sont déjà d’accord » assène très justement Stéphane Olivier de Transquinquennal – déplace le regard qu’on peut porter sur les multiples « principes de précaution » et autres « gestions de risque » qui nous envahissent. Une manière de questionner cette nécessité de la peur dont il va falloir faire quelque chose maintenant qu’ont disparu l’URSS… et Ben Laden.
