Deux artistes, l’un poète et touche-à-tout de génie, l’autre beau comme un dieu, acteur fétiche et muse du premier, deux soleils éclairant mutuellement leur route commune mais un seul prénom et comme une seule voix, celle de Cocteau-Marais, accouchée par Jean-Luc Tardieu qui aida le comédien, au soir de sa vie, à composer cet autoportrait bifrons. « Voyage parmi les mystères de la vie foisonnante du démiurge », ce texte évoque la vie et l’œuvre de Cocteau, ses amours, sa passion pour Raymond Radiguet, demeurée inconsolée, ses emportements et ses débordements, son génie des sommets comme son art des gouffres, ses fulgurances et ses chaos. « J’étais le véhicule d’une force qui veut vivre à ma place. Qu’elle vive ! Elle verra ce que c’est. », disait Cocteau en évoquant ce maelström existentiel. Jacques Sereys reprend aujourd’hui ce texte et offre son élégante exigence à un rôle qu’il fait revivre en lui donnant des couleurs nouvelles.
