« Un vrai spectacle de cirque à l’ancienne… moderne ! »
« Le hip hop n’est pas nouveau dans mon travail. On pouvait par exemple retrouver des hip hoppeurs dans ma mise en scène de La Chauve Souris à l’Opéra Bastille en 2000. Je suis très proche de ce mouvement, je collabore d’ailleurs depuis longtemps avec les Wanted Posse, une compagnie de hip hop (elle signe la mise en scène de Bad Moves et de Transe, NDLR). J’aitoujours pensé que c’était une des cultures les plus importantes en France actuellement. Pour ce qui est du cirque, je suis très liée à l’Académie Fratellini depuis sa fondation, en tant qu’élève de trapèze lorsqu’il s’agissait de l’Ecole du Cirque d’Annie Fratellini. J’ai fait du trapèze pendant trente ans. Le cirque a toujours été présent dans ma vie, dès mon premier film Pourquoi Pas !. Je n’aborde pas cette pièce comme j’écrirais un scénario, car je pars d’abord du désir des artistes : ce sont eux avant tout qui doivent défendre leurs numéros, ils les construisent autant que moi ! Quand on se dit « auteur », il faut vraiment rester très modeste, au cirque ! Ils travaillent depuis des années, ils ont la technique, et moi je les aide à accoucher d’un certain nombre de choses à l’intérieur de leurs numéros, et en particulier sur ce qui touche au comique. J’ai également un œil très vigilant du point de vue esthétique, et sur le sens à donner à tout ça.
Moment de plaisir
J’essaye d’aller vers une libération, et ma volonté est de montrer que l’on est plus heureux si l’on est libre, si on se libère d’un certain nombre de poids, le poids du matériel par exemple. C’est ce que j’appelle la décroissance. Mais attention, ce spectacle n’est pas non plus un acte philosophique, je considère que c’est avant tout un moment de plaisir. Et c’est aussi un moyen de mêler les générations, notamment à travers le charivari, une tradition magnifique portée par les grands cirques autrefois et que l’on va transmettre ici. La musique reste toujours très importante pour moi. Il s’agit ici de mêler des traditions très belles, très populaires et de grande classe aussi, avec toutes les innovations comme celles du hip hop ou les idées des jeunes apprentis de l’Académie. Un mélange se met en place entre une tradition qu’ils sont très avides de connaître, et leurs inventions à eux que l’on essaye de faire grandir autant que possible. C’est un vrai spectacle de cirque à l’ancienne… moderne ! »
