Dans la salle d’attente d’une administration, deux hommes et une femme sont pris au piège d’une situation qui leur échappe. Ne daignant pas s’occuper d’eux, l’employé qui devrait les recevoir vaque en effet à d’étranges occupations. «Ce texte poursuit l’interrogation sur le regard de Chacun chez soi, explique Adélaïde Pralon, regard du témoin passif, regard de la victime, du bourreau, du séducteur (…). Il s’attache aux individus et à leurs symptômes qui, si petits soient-ils, sont souvent révélateurs des maux d’une société entière.» Lâchetés, anxiétés, égoïsmes, atermoiements… Combinaisons ou comment faire la queue quand on tourne en rond met en lumière un univers «froid et absurde» dans lequel une humanité mise à nu se dévoile: une humanité composée d’êtres «abreuvés de peur», êtres «que l’on encourage, dans leur lutte pour survivre, à ne pas regarder l’autre».
