« Comme le nageur au fond des mers se situe à la croisée des influences d’une écriture de roman, en termes de souffles narratifs, et d’une écriture de scénario. Le personnage principal, qui s’appelle Moi, est devenu amnésique après la mort accidentelle de sa femme. L’un des thèmes que j’ai placés au centre de ce texte est celui de la mémoire, qui parcourt beaucoup de mes créations. Il y a aussi l’imbrication de l’histoire collective et des destins individuels. À travers cette histoire, j’ai voulu interroger les liens entre le visible et l’invisible, les vivant et les morts.
La mémoire et l’identité
La relation entre ceux qui sont là et ceux qui ont disparu est l’une des fonctions sacrées du théâtre. J’ai eu envie de la traiter de façon hyper contemporaine, en creusant le manque de chair de la mort, comme l’éternel présent qui fait que les questions de mémoire et d’identité deviennent floues. Cela grâce à plusieurs trames. D’abord, celle d’un Orphée d’aujourd’hui qui cherche une femme qui vraisemblablement s’est noyée. Et puis, une autre trame, liée aux migrants qui disparaissent en Méditerranée. Comme le nageur au fond des mers déploie une réflexion sur la façon de faire le deuil d’un corps que l’on ne retrouve pas. »
