Belle idée que d’associer dans un même concert des œuvres de musique baroque à des partitions de Mendelssohn. Le compositeur romantique a en effet joué un rôle majeur dans la redécouverte de l’œuvre de Bach et a su reprendre avec habileté des éléments du style baroque dans son propre langage compositionnel. L’énergique Concerto Köln ouvre son concert avec deux pièces de Vivaldi (la Sinfonia RV 156 et le célébrissime Concerto pour quatre violons), avant de donner les concertos pour trois et pour quatre clavecins de Bach (avec, en solistes, un beau panel de clavecinistes : Andreas Staier, Christine Schornsheim, Christian Rieger et Gerald Hambitzer). Le concert se poursuivra avec Mendelssohn dont seront donnés la Symphonie pour cordes n°1, ainsi que le Concerto pour trois pianos que Mendelssohn a composé d’après… Bach. La boucle est bouclée !
