L’association ProQuartet présente ses coups de cœur au public mélomane parisien. Le Quatuor Doric, formation anglaise fondée depuis 6 ans, participe au programme de formation professionnelle ProQuartet-CEMC depuis novembre 2002 et étudie notamment avec Walter Levin du Quatuor LaSalle. Il vient de remporter le Bristol Millenium Chamber Music Competition. Pour sa première apparition parisienne,le 5 novembre, le Quatuor Doric a choisi Haydn (Quatuor à cordes en sol Majeur opus 76 n°1 ), Dvorak (Quatuor à cordes en la Majeur opus 105 ) et Barber (Quatuor à cordes en si mineur opus 11 ). Le Quatuor Atrium a pour sa part vu le jour à l’automne 2000 au Conservatoire de Saint Petersbourg, sous l’influence du Professeur Joseph Levinson, le violoncelliste du célèbre Quatuor Taneyev. Dès l’année suivante, il remporte le Deuxième Prix du Concours International de Quatuor à cordes Chostakovitch de Moscou puis, en 2003, le Premier Prix et le Prix du Public au Concours International de Quatuor à cordes de Londres. EMI Classics lui offre alors la possibilité d’enregistrer un disque consacré à Mozart, Tchaïkovski et Chostakovitch. Enfin, consécration, l’été dernier, ces quatre jeunes musiciens russes remportent le Premier Grand Prix du Concours International de Quatuor à cordes de Bordeaux à l’unanimité. Ces musiciens à découvrir absolument jouent le Quatuor n°9 de Beethoven, le Quatuor n°7 « Variations séreuses » de Nicolas Bacri et le Quatuor n°2 en fa majeur de Tchaikovsky.
