PIANO / GRAND AMPHI D’ASSAS
C’est une idée de génie que Gérard Bekerman, professeur d’université, a eue il y a une trentaine d’années : créer un concours de piano destiné aux amateurs de haut niveau. Un concours qui au fond prend le contre-pied des compétitions habituelles où la compétition est le maître-mot et dont les palmarès peuvent soutenir ou freiner une carrière. Rien de tout cela ici : les candidats – originaires cette année de tous les continents – ont tous leur vie et le piano en partage. À chaque édition, le niveau des interprétations, attentivement observées par un jury international de haut niveau, est impressionnant et redonne au mot « amateur » toute sa valeur. Les épreuves sont ouvertes au public (entrée libre pour les éliminatoires et la demi-finale, dans la mairie du 16ème arrondissement), et les auditeurs de la finale, dans le grand amphi d’Assas où se sont produits les grands noms du piano, de Samson François à Martha Argerich, sont invités à désigner leur propre lauréat.
