Depuis 1943, le Concours Long-Thibaud est dédié, d’une année à l’autre, au violon ou au piano. Cette année, c’est au tour des jeunes virtuoses de l’archet de venir concourir à Paris. Il est peu de dire que l’épreuve a tout d’un parcours du combattant. Après une présélection sur CD (où l’interprète doit notamment jouer un Caprice de Paganini et des extraits d’une Partita de Bach), les heureux élus se retrouvent pour les éliminatoires (en public, du 5 au 7 novembre au CRR de Paris), avec du Paganini ou du Ernst, une sonate de Mozart et une pièce plus moderne (Prokofiev, Stravinsky ou Bartok). La demi-finale (en public, les 8 et 9 novembre au CRR de Paris) impose aux candidats une œuvre de Bach, le finale du Concerto de Kurt Weil, la Romance de Fauré et une œuvre au choix. Les finalistes devront, quant à eux, affronter d’une part l’épreuve du récital (en public, le 11 novembre à Gaveau), comprenant notamment une création contemporaine, et d’autre part l’épreuve du concerto (en public, le 13 novembre à l’Opéra Comique). Le concert de gala se déroulera enfin le 15 novembre à l’Opéra Comique. A noter que dans les concertos, les jeunes virtuoses seront accompagnés par l’Orchestre philharmonique de Radio France dirigé par Jaime Martin. Quant au jury, il réunit, sous la présidence de Dévy Erlih, quelques beaux noms du violon, de David Grimal à Thomas Brandis.
