Le cadavre exquis est à l’origine un jeu inventé par les Surréalistes. Outre que le résultat est généralement hilarant, l’approche théorique rattache le cadavre exquis à une automatisation de l’écriture, afin notamment de désacraliser la figure de l’auteur démiurge, et d’attribuer l’acte créatif à une dynamique collective. En 2012, la chorégraphe Joanne Leighton s’était saisie de ce procédé pour créer Exquisite Corpse, associant la phrase de 57 de ses pairs à la sienne. Seule contrainte : les dernières dix secondes de chaque séquence devaient être transmises au chorégraphe suivant qui en faisait son point de départ. Les intervenants avaient rivalisé d’invention pour transmettre leur phrase : vidéo, images, textes, consignes, ou, bien sûr, transmission directe dans le studio. Aujourd’hui, il s’agit de reprendre cette partition hétéroclite de 58 minutes écrite par 58 chorégraphes pour la transformer, à la manière d’un palimpseste, pour trois interprètes. Cette nouvelle version, intitulée Corps Exquis, revoit également toute sa scénographie pour devenir matière vivante, pâte chorégraphique, visuelle et plastique, avec patchworks sonores aussi bien que visuels, pour dessiner et matérialiser ce défi surréaliste fait d’interruptions, d’incohérences, d’absurdité et d’ironie.
