Plus encore que ses autres chefs-d’œuvre, Cosi fan tutte relève du miracle mozartien. La perfection à laquelle atteint l’ouvrage ne doit en effet pas grand chose à son argument, véritable caricature de l’opéra bouffe qui ne ferait pas même l’effort d’un minimum de vraisemblance (il s’en passe des choses dans cette seule journée où, éplorées le matin au départ de leurs fiancés, Dorabella et Fiordiligi, s’apprêtent le soir à signer le contrat les mariant chacune au promis de l’autre, déguisés tous deux en exotiques ambassadeurs !). Mais le livret de Da Ponte cisèle cette mince intrigue avec la plus grande verve et Mozart y déploie une musique dont la richesse dépasse de loin l’ampleur des personnages.
Esprit de défi
Tant de grâces pour une fantaisie si ténue étaient en soi un défi lancé aux conventions de l’époque. Ce même esprit de défi anime la troupe de l’Envolée lyrique, qui propose ce Cosi fan tutte dans une production ouverte aux différentes formes artistiques : les chanteurs n’oublient pas de jouer la comédie (si les airs sont chantés en italien, les récitatifs sont réécrits en français, dans l’esprit de Marivaux). Ils sont également musiciens : violon, violoncelle, flûte, guitare et trompette viennent ainsi se greffer au piano au gré des disponibilités des chanteurs]instrumentistes. Enfin, la danse a ici toute sa place : la chorégraphie de Mika Fau, qui accompagne la dramaturgie de l’opéra, fait le lien entre les danses de salon du xviiie siècle et le langage chorégraphique contemporain.
