A l’intérieur d’un périmètre fermé par des palissades de bois, un cloaque d’huile, d’eau et de boue. Une station-service hors d’usage, un bar déglingué, un tank récupéré des tueries de 14, des bidons, une radio où susurre la nostalgie des années 60, et un petit peuple déglingué et dégénéré qui se prépare à se défendre contre les assauts fantasmés d’un ennemi invisible. Voilà le nouvel univers inventé par Denis Chabroullet et ses compagnons du Théâtre de la Mezzanine. Vision radicale des errements du monde contemporain, anticipation poétique du désastre, requiem pour une fraternité défunte ou appel au sursaut : derrière les meurtrières du décor, Chabroullet montre un enfer au goût d’avenir où la peur de l’autre condamne les hommes à la bâtardise de l’endogamie et à l’ennui du solipsisme.
