Ce spectacle en deux parties, nouvelle adaptation et traduction du puissant roman de Dostoïevski par Coralie Pradet et Nikson Pitakaj, convoque une quinzaine de comédiens sur la scène, et dresse le portrait d’une société abîmée par l’alcoolisme, la prostitution, les injustices sociales et le pouvoir de l’argent, une société en proie à la violence et la misère. Originaire du Kosovo, le metteur en scène Nikson Pitakaj a voulu dépeindre la dégradation d’une société, une préoccupation politique de plus en plus aiguë aujourd’hui. La pièce n’est pas ancrée dans une époque ou un pays particuliers, tout en restant très proche du texte original. Ainsi se combinent un tableau social réaliste et l’exploration profonde et nuancé de la psychologie de l’étudiant meurtrier, Raskolnikov, écartant finalement ses hésitations face au crime puis sombrant dans un état second, entre rêve et réalité. Chaque personnage acquiert ici une réelle épaisseur. Un spectacle en clair-obscur, brut, épuré et non dépourvu d’humour.
