La figure de la femme combattante – mélange des genres fantasmé de la femme et du guerrier – a souvent trouvé des échos en musique. Le Combat de Clorinde et Tancrède de Monteverdi en est un des plus fameux exemples, où les voix du ténor (Tancrède) et de la soprano (Clorinde, travestie en guerrier) se rapprochent. Interprété par Enea Sorini et Patrizia Bovi, accompagnés par Chiara Banchini, ce chef-d’ œuvre est confronté à la tradition d’interprétation des poèmes épiques qui avait alors cours (15 novembre). C’est également à un travail de reconstitution que s’est livré Jordi Savall, qui a conçu le programme musical du diptyque de Jacques Rivette, Jeanne la Pucelle. Comme Clorinde, Jeanne se fait combattante, transgressant ainsi l’ordre établi – ce dont témoigne la célèbre mélodie de L’Homme armé. L’indécision du genre, c’est aussi, ici, les voix divines que Guillaume Dufay confie à deux sopranos et un haute-contre (16 novembre). Le chassé-croisé des sexes se poursuit avec une évocation, par la contralto Nathalie Stutzmann, de l’époque des castrats. À la tête de l’ensemble Orfeo 55 et accompagnée par le contre-ténor Max Emanuel Cencic, elle visite les œuvres de Vivaldi et Haendel (17 novembre).
