Théâtre de La Tempête / texte Edmond Rostand / mes Lazare Herson-Macarel
Pourquoi monter un classique ? La question se pose nécessairement à tout metteur en scène qui choisit de travailler sur un texte mille et une fois vu et entendu. Lazare Herson-Macarel avance plusieurs raisons. La première tient dans « la fête populaire » que représente cette pièce : « une fête qui rassemble les gens les plus différents pour un festin de mots, d’intelligence, d’énergie vitale, de dépense improductive ». La deuxième se trouve du côté du personnage de Cyrano qui « nous inspire la liberté, l’insolence, l’insoumission, le désir d’insurrection pour un monde meilleur, le refus des compromissions, des paresses intellectuelles et des résignations – toutes choses dont notre société oublie petit à petit qu’elles sont possibles ». La troisième a à voir avec les comédiens : leur nombre (45) ramené ici à 10 mais dont la profusion « dit quelque chose du théâtre que nous voulons faire », et bien sûr Eddie Chignara / Cyrano, « acteur-monde et ogre de théâtre ». Trois raisons qui ne manquent pas de panache.
