Pourquoi vous intéressez-vous aux disparitions volontaires et à l’amnésie identitaire ?
Cyril Teste : Près de 15 000 personnes « s’évaporent » chaque année en France, s’évadent de leur vie du jour au lendemain. Cette question de la disparition, de l’abandon, de l’effacement, touche à l’être intime, en même temps qu’elle fait état de la société. Reset enlace deux histoires parallèles, celle d’un père qui décide de tout quitter sans laisser de traces et celle d’une personne atteinte d’amnésie identitaire, pathologie rare qui provoque l’oubli de tout ce qui se rapporte à sa propre biographie familiale. Ces deux parcours se rejoignent car ils sont liés à la perte du patronyme, à la mémoire défigurée. Dans une époque marquée par la quête de reconnaissance, par le désir de tout nommer, cataloguer, où l’identité doit être définie, que se passe-t-il quand on perd son nom ?
Quel a été le processus d’écriture ?
C. T. : Nous avons d’abord cherché à cerner les mécanismes en jeu dans ces deux cas. Nous avons collecté des matériaux de travail à partir de documentaires et d’enquêtes journalistiques concernant les disparitions, et à partir d’études médicales, de témoignages sur l’amnésie identitaire. Nous avons notamment collaboré avec le Dr Joël Monfort, psychiatre-psychothérapeute, praticien attaché à l’hôpital du Kremlin-Bicêtre, pour découvrir le concret de cette maladie pour ceux qui la vivent et pour leur entourage. Ensuite, les acteurs se sont nourris de ce réel là, s’y sont confrontés pour faire des improvisations sur scène et en extérieur. Nous avons aussi intégré le travail de la mémoire, avec ses oublis, ses éclats fugaces, ses réminiscences sélectives. Parfois, il ne nous reste d’une situation vécue que des bribes de mots, des couleurs, des bruits, des sensations. J’utilise tous ces matériaux, ces expériences et le processus même du souvenir pour écrire avec les différents éléments du plateau, autant les paroles, les corps que les sons, les lumières ou les images vidéo. Le texte n’est qu’une composante du langage scénique. Il doit garder une part d’incomplétude où pourront se déployer les imaginaires.
Comment traitez-vous ces questions sur le plateau ?
C. T. : Bien qu’étayé sur des documents scientifiques, Reset ne cherche pas à donner d’explications, mais simplement à traduire de façon sensible l’onde de choc que peuvent produire la soudaine disparition de l’autre ou la perte brutale de son identité. Comment reçoit-on l’absence inexpliquée, inexplicable ? Comment vit-on avec des manques ? Comment se construit-on hors de sa biographie, hors de sa fonction sociale ? Comment se renommer quand on a perdu son nom ? La pièce tente de créer un espace de résonnance pour ces questions-là, de faire écho à nos errances identitaires. Je crois qu’il faut parfois se laisser traverser par ces situations incompréhensibles, sans vouloir à tout prix expliciter. Il est un interstice du secret qui constitue notre liberté absolue. Peut-être faut-il admettre que le contour des êtres est plus flou, plus nébuleux que les carcans identitaires qu’impose la société…
