Il est rare de voir un chorégraphe et un compositeur travailler ensemble. C’est donc avec une attention particulière que l’on a suivi la rencontre, puis l’éclosion d’une collaboration entre Daniel Dobbels et Gérard Pesson, mis en relation pour la première fois par Michel Caserta, directeur de la Biennale nationale de danse du Val-de-Marne. Une première création était née de cette rencontre en 2007. Deux ans plus tard, les deux auteurs se retrouvent pour Danser, de peur…, qui porte un pas plus loin le dialogue sensible entre les deux arts. Cette fois, ce n’est pas la musique de Gérard Pesson qui a inspiré Daniel Dobbels : c’est la danse de ce dernier qui a précédé la composition musicale. On est alors séduit par cette partition surprenante, qui semble attentive à réserver une place de choix aux bruits du corps : les pas des danseurs, leur souffle, leurs glissements sur le tapis sont partie prenante de la musique. Inversement, le groupe des quatre danseurs invite la musique à pénétrer la danse : non seulement les musiciens (ensemble 2e2m) sont sur le plateau, mais le chef d’orchestre est invité à investir l’espace dévolu aux danseurs. Lorsqu’il traverse le plateau, l’assistance retient son souffle. La fragilité de ce simple geste est saisissante. Et si le dialogue danse-musique était, avant tout, une question d’espace ?
