Le sixième programme de l’orchestre Danzas de Jean-Marie Machado réunit 17 musiciens sur scène. Inspiré par un imaginaire marin fortement influencé par la Méditerranée, il s’inscrit avec naturel dans la continuité des précédentes partitions servies par cette grande formation. Danzas Sinfonia se présente comme une déambulation orchestrale, « une suite d’humeurs poétiques inventées en un seul geste musical » comme aime à le dire Jean-Marie Machado qui ajoute : « Chaque mouvement de la mer est associé à une danse. Le souvenir des sensations de l’enfance que Chantal Thomas nomme « l’écume des rires », et le désir de se perdre dans l’immensité bleue à l’infini ont guidé ces compositions ». Placé sous la direction de Jean-Charles Richard, l’orchestre se déploie dans une instrumentation riche et variée incluant cordes, bois, percussions, guitare, cuivres et bien sûr le piano du leader.
