Avec deux musiciens et huit danseurs (tous de magnifiques interprètes), Christian Rizzo revisite une émotion forte : celle qui l’a envahi à Istanbul, en 2004, lorsqu’à la fin d’un spectacle auquel il assistait, un groupe d’hommes a surgi, exécuté une danse folklorique très courte, et disparu. De là est né le désir d’interroger la force propre à la danse « traditionnelle » : celle qui creuse le sol et qui soude une communauté, celle qui – indépendamment de tout contexte et code culturel – nous prend aux tripes et nous force à faire face à une émotion archaïque. Le résultat est une œuvre marquante, à la limite de la transe : dans le martèlement des batteries, c’est autant l’énergie des « battles » de hip hop que celle des rythmes les plus ancestraux qui nous entraînent, tous, dans un souffle commun.
