Un poste musiques à jardin, un poste arts plastiques à cour. Et au centre un grand écran où défile un film d’animation fabriqué en direct grâce au talent et à la complicité parfaitement synchronisée de Romain Bermond et Jean-Baptiste Maillet, plasticiens et musiciens, chacun cultivant sa spécialité. C’est en effet une impressionnante conjugaison des images et des sons qui se déploie, un art des métamorphoses et des enchaînements qui ouvre vers un ailleurs imaginaire. Dark Circus se fonde sur une histoire écrite, un scénario original réalisé par l’auteur et illustrateur Pef, qui leur a laissé carte blanche pour l’interprétation. Ils content l’histoire sans paroles d’un cirque qui clame dans les rues d’une ville triste et grise : « venez nombreux, devenez malheureux ! ». Au programme, un Monsieur loyal déprimé et fatigué, un dompteur qui se fait dévorer, un homme-canon qui disparaît dans l’espace… C’est une petite boule rouge de jongleur qui va gripper la machine et troubler cette morne atmosphère. D’ingénieuses trouvailles et un savoir-faire virtuose et artisanal créent une magie de chaque instant qui enchante les spectateurs.
