Ce jeune pianiste français, ancien élève de grandes dames du piano en France (Catherine Collard et Brigitte Engerer en particulier), vient de signer sur le label Ame Son, un enregistrement très remarqué de transcriptions d’œuvres de Bach. Contournant les inépuisables débats instrumentaux concernant Bach au clavier, et guidé avant tout par le plaisir de laisser sonner un Bach différent sur son piano moderne, David Bismuth fait appel à une ribambelle de transcripteurs, à commencer par les références du genre que sont Liszt et Busoni (la Chaconne de la Partita pour violon seul, BWV 1004 !). Mais le jeune interprète pimente aussi son programme en faisant appel à de grands pianistes et compositeurs du XXème siècle comme Wilhelm Kempff et Alexandre Siloti, et même, beaucoup plus près de nous, au compositeur Karol Beffa pour une relecture pianistique de l’air « Erbarme dich » extrait de la Passion selon Saint-Matthieu. Un passionnant parcours « autour de Bach » à retrouver aujourd’hui en concert…
