Comment avez-vous conçu cette nouvelle programmation qui appelle, cette année, “à lâcher les modèles culturels”?
David Jisse : Cette programmation est le fruit de la grande proximité artistique que nous entretenons avec des ensembles et structures partenaires. Elle est la concrétisation des projets de créations que nous menons avec eux. Elle se développe souvent à la croisée des genres musicaux et c’est pourquoi nous invitons le public à quitter les cases un peu rassurantes des modèles et des genres habituels (jazz, contemporain, électronique, pop, classique…) pour venir découvrir des propositions inventives libres et souvent inclassables.

Les créations portées par Extension provoquent souvent des rencontres avec des textes. Pourquoi ?
D.J. : De la chanson à l’opéra en passant par la poésie sonore, la relation du texte et de la musique est une histoire qui traverse le temps. Peut-être un peu plus aujourd’hui dans la musique contemporaine, les compositeurs souhaitent s’appuyer sur des textes à la fois pour les faire découvrir mais aussi pour quitter un peu le champ de l’abstraction pour aller vers l’appui du sens mais aussi le son du mot. Que ce soit autour de l’improvisation ou dans l’ écriture, cette intimité provoque de nouvelles formes que nous soutenons.
Quelle place aimeriez-vous que le festival Extension tienne dans le paysage de la musique contemporaine en France?
D.J. : Nous aimerions que le public identifie les propositions de la Muse en Circuit comme une série de portes qui, si on les pousse, permettent d’accéder à des univers variés et attractifs. Sur ces portes, rien n’est écrit d’autre que création musicale et c’est pourquoi je souhaite que notre festival soit perçu comme celui de l’hybridation exigeante des genres, des techniques et des moyens d’expression, allant de l’écriture à l’improvisation. Nous voulons créer un festival de la création musicale ouvert à tous les publics, telle est notre ambition pour cette année et les suivantes.

Parmi les temps forts de cette manifestation, il faut signaler, après le concert-multimédia d’ouverture du 28 avril avec L’Odyssée du débridé Alexandros Markeas, un rendez-vous avec le compositeur Frédéric Verrières qui propose du jazz animé (6 mai) et la rencontre de la musique et des cartoons ! Le lendemain, un débat réunira différents compositeurs autour d’une problématique alléchante : faut-il une A.O.C. pour la musique contemporaine ? David Jisse et ses acolytes nous font ensuite (re)découvrir Rilke avec des improvisations préparées (le 12 mai), tandis que l’ensemble 2e2M nous montre que le spectralisme a encore de beaux jours devant lui (le 14 mai, avec des créations de Sebastien Rivas, Jean-Luc Hervé et Enno Poppe). Toujours le 14 mai, une belle rencontre entre musique acousmatique et mixte est prévue avec l’Ensemble Diagonal. Enfin, à ne pas manquer : l’adaptation musicale du roman de Michel Tournier Vendredi ou les limbes du Pacifique par le compositeur Samuel Sighicelli, avec le piano de Wilhem Latchoumia.
