Depuis ses premiers disques parus chez Label Bleu (les inoubliables « Up Close » en 1995 puis « Bandarkâh » en 1998), David Linx s’est imposé comme la grande voix du jazz européen de sa génération. Incontestablement. Aujourd’hui arrivé à une forme de maturité, après de nombreux expériences et projets en tous genres, il revient au jazz par la grande porte d’une collaboration avec le Brussels Jazz Orchestra. Cette formation d’élite de 16 musiciens réunit des flamands, wallons, hollandais et même un français, drivés par une rythmique géniale composée de Nathalie Loriers au piano, Jos Machtel à la contrebasse et Martijn Vink à la batterie. « Cela a été un honneur pour moi, explique Linx. La meilleure manière possible de renouer avec mon pays d’origine, la Flandre où je ne chante presque jamais ». Pour ce projet, le chanteur a fait appel à 12 arrangeurs différents pour les 12 titres qui composent l’album (des standards et des compositions originales dont certaines de sa plume) et sollicité quelques invités de luxe tels la grande soprano classique Nathalie Dessay, le percussionniste Minino Garay ou le brésilien Ivan Lins. « Changing Faces » qui sort chez O+/ Harmonia Mundi est le grand disque de David Linx que l’on attendait depuis très longtemps.
