DéBaTailles est une affaire de jeu, mais aussi une affaire de règles. La scène comme un ring, les musiciens cantonnés à l’arrière, l’espace fait place nette pour l’étrange rituel qui va se jouer sans répit sous nos yeux : un groupe de danseurs appelés à s’affronter sur le mode de la danse, à mesure que la musique leur dicte une ligne de conduite rythmique ou une inspiration. Les pistes sont sans cesse brouillées, et c’est à qui sera le meilleur de tous. Mais dans cette course absurde à l’efficacité, où la lutte défend des valeurs personnelles idiotes, la danse s’essouffle et brasse l’air avec force.
Le défi d’une course effrénée
C’est sans doute la notion de plaisir immédiat qu’il faut retenir du spectacle, une jubilation devant la folle énergie et la générosité sans faille dans lesquelles se jettent les danseurs. Reste à savoir ce qui justifie une telle dépense. Se battre, oui, mais pour quoi ? Le mélange des genres est un savant prétexte à la démonstration de force diluée dans le hip hop, les portés, l’acrobatie, le catch, le kung-fu ou la danse de salon. A quoi bon ? Le spectacle donne une bien piètre image du monde, tout occupé à briller dans une folle escalade, dans l’ironie de la violence de ses propres actes.
