Premier texte de Dennis Kelly, Débris donne la parole à une sœur et un frère : Michelle (Pauline Drach) et Michael (Jimmy Lemos), deux adolescents qui racontent les événements d’une enfance dont la violence fait écho à celle qui tourne en boucle sur nos chaines de télévision. Tour à tour relatés de façon tragique, burlesque, dérangeante, ces épisodes de vie ouvrent sur le décès de leur mère, l’auto-crucifixion de leur père, la découverte d’un bébé dans une poubelle, leur enlèvement par un oncle aux intentions douteuses… « Le récit se tord parfois, expliquent les membres de la Compagnie Corpus Urbain, se transforme même, le passé et le présent se mêlent et c’est aux spectateurs de reconstituer le puzzle. » En neuf scènes, Débris sonde « la dissolution de rapports familiaux pervertis par la télévision, la religion ou la violence sociale ». Un récit des origines « où persiste l’espoir que tout n’est pas écrit d’avance ».
