« Is this it ? All this pain and confusion, is this our life ? »… Cette phrase arrachée au livret d’un d’opéra signé de l’auteur canadienne Anne Carson fend les chairs comme une obsédante question. Tressant les destins de trois femmes – Sapho la poétesse, Marguerite Porete la mystique et Simone Weil la philosophe -, Decreation trame une réflexion au fil du rasoir sur la souffrance, l’amour, la joie. Sur l’absurdité de la vie. Entraînant les seize danseurs virtuoses de sa compagnie au plus sombre des méandres tortueux du désir et de la jalousie, William Forsythe dissèque mouvement, son et langage avec une précision mathématique. La danse, surgie des corps, se déploie en vagues ondulatoires, rapides, convulsives, tandis que les sons, distordus, vrillent la perception du réel et brouillent la communication. Torturée, grotesque ou sublime, cette danse-là électrifie les sens. Comme une étrange secousse intérieure.
