C’est en s’associant avec le plasticien Arthur Hoffner, dont les derniers travaux autour de l’eau résonnent parfaitement avec sa recherche, que Grégoire Schaller a créé Deep Water. Un format court qui s’inscrit dans le temps fort anniversaire de la Ménagerie de Verre, mais qui pourrait tout aussi bien faire les belles heures de la thématique Art & Sport de Paris 2024, puisqu’il met en scène un haltérophile, incarné par le performeur et chorégraphe lui-même. Celui-ci l’installe dans un univers quasi quotidien, au cœur de ses routines de musculation. Mais son rapport avec l’eau, les objets, les accessoires, actionne d’autres transformations, vers un corps qui prend l’empreinte de son environnement. La pièce est suivie du travail de Schaller en collaboration avec la danseuse et chorégraphe Anne Chirescu, Ordeal by Water.
