« C’est comme si on m’avait confisqué mon histoire et qu’on me la racontait. On me la raconte et j’ai l’impression que c’est d’un autre qu’on parle. », dit Arnaud Michniak, faisant ainsi le portrait d’une génération perdue entre les utopies défuntes du monde d’avant et l’angoisse d’un monde d’après dont elle a l’impression de subir l’inexorable et terrifiant avènement. En questionnant des gens de leur âge, nés dans les années 70, Arnaud Michniak et Aurélia Guillet ont découvert « une sorte de malaise historique partagé » accompagnant « le sentiment de ne pas pouvoir être dans une parole commune ». Défaite du politique un peu honteuse, désir et dégoût mêlés de l’engagement, « urgence et incapacité à agir », individualisme jouisseur et restriction libidinale liée à la crise : les quarantenaires d’aujourd’hui ont le sentiment « d’être sans cesse au bord de quelque chose, d’un étrange commencement, entre lucidité et refus du renoncement ». En inventant un mode de création singulier, où tous les artistes réunis offrent matériau au spectacle, Arnaud Michniak et Aurélia Guillet entendent réinventer un « nous » théâtral qui soit la promesse d’une force collective retrouvée, « comme une tentative de nous réapproprier ce que nous vivons, au cœur de nos déterminismes, de nos limites mais aussi de nos vivacités ».
