La caractéristique de l’avant-gardisme de Ionesco – nous fêtons le centenaire de sa naissance – , c’est l’absence fracassante d’intrigue, la dégradation sensible du langage que souligne encore le sentiment insolite du non-sens et de l’absurdité de l’existence. Avec la pièce Délire à deux, Christophe Lidon éclaire d’un jour neuf les dissensions internes du couple, ses désaccords et ses déclarations d’hostilité. Cette guerre conjugale est intime, elle ne saurait se confondre avec les conflits venus de l’extérieur, politiques, sociaux et économiques dont les médias déversent dans les foyers les images insoutenables. Notre couple ne semble d’ailleurs pas le moins du monde troublé par cette violence. La femme était peut-être mariée, et l’homme l’aurait séduite, «et depuis tout va à vau l’eau dans la grande lignée des grandes farces métaphysiques propres au théâtre de l’absurde», selon le metteur en scène. Or, on baisse les armessoudainement ; une déclaration de paix interrompt le duel privé. Où retrouver l’enthousiasme de continuer à s’aimer? Dans les souvenirs communspuisqu’ils recèlent les émotions. Un pas de deux vivifiant.
