« Libérer Kafka d’une interprétation sombre, tragique et pesante », c’est ce qu’entreprend le metteur en scène Andreas Kriegenburg dans ce spectacle, créé en 2008 à l’invitation de l’un des grands ensembles d’acteurs du théâtre allemand, la Kammerspiele de Munich. Luttant contre une perception désespérée et désespérante du monde, rejoignant en cela l’auteur qui faisait preuve d’un évident sens comique au cœur d’un monde redoutablement et inexplicablement oppressant, Andreas Kriegenburg s’attache à mettre en forme « un univers kafkaïen plein d’humour, d’ironie et de distance ». Les personnages évoquent les comédiens du cinéma muet, qui amorçait alors son essor, et leur maladresse burlesque reflète des troubles du comportement et un état d’interrogation permanente.
Insondable ambiguïté
En effet, Joseph K ignore tout de ce dont on l’accuse, condamné à errer dans un monde opaque, labyrinthique, incompréhensible, il questionne sans cesse, chaque tentative d’explication se révélant infructueuse. Comme si les circonvolutions de cerveau perdaient leur emprise sur le monde. Car si la situation est totalement absurde, elle est aussi complètement métaphorique, se rattachant à des interprétations psychanalytiques, philosophiques, et même religieuses, et K, dans toute son ambiguïté, ne nous est pas étranger ! Pour exprimer cette insondable et complexe ambiguïté, le personnage de K est ici diffracté dans les huit figures présentes sur le plateau, ce qui permet de mettre en lumière toutes les facettes de cet incroyable personnage sans évacuer son côté comique, en déséquilibre. « Chacun est un miroir pour les autres, un miroir traumatique. » souligne le metteur en scène, qui s’attache à combiner trois éléments dans sa représentation : musicalité du texte, ainsi que force visuelle et expressivité, car le roman s’apparente à un script de film selon lui. Un spectacle total, subtil et élégant, convoquant tous les artifices de la scène pour traduire les vertiges d’une prodigieuse écriture.
