Diptyque de deux spectacles indépendants même si l’un prolonge l’autre, Dérives nous invite à suivre le parcours de la vie d’une figure de notre époque dans les méandres du système économique libéral de notre monde occidental ». Une dystopie en forme de théâtre-concert qui se déroule tout entière à The Megaville, « mégalopole inhumaine » dans laquelle débarque le personnage principal. Zones d’ombres d’abord narre le départ du Village du Silence et l’arrivée dans ce nouvel univers. Puis Le Mensonge du singe, quelques années plus tard, voit le même personnage, seul, immobile, dans le salon du pavillon d’une banlieue périphérique.
Dans la lignée de Kae Tempest
Christophe Tostain est le concepteur et interprète de ce diptyque. Pour Zones d’ombres, il est accompagné sur scène de Lotus Choffel à la création vidéo et Alexandre Simoni pour la musique. Dans une alternance de « récit, slam, chant et rap », Dérives propose deux spectacles où le théâtre côtoie le concert pour le premier et la performance immersive pour le second. L’ensemble est construit autour de la technique du spoken word, afin de produire une parole à la fois poétique et politique, « dans la lignée de ce qui peut se faire outre-manche par Kae Tempest ou les Sleaford Mods ».
