Dramaturge mexicain multi-primé, traduit dans une dizaine de langues, Jaime Chabaud n’a encore jamais été mis en scène en France. Touché au cœur par son essence poétique, Alain Batis a décidé de présenter sur la scène du théâtre de L’Epée de Bois Des larmes d’eau douce, conte moderne onirique et cruel, qui ne manque ni d’humour ni de beauté. Le texte est né de l’envie de l’auteur d’aborder deux thématiques : l’exploitation et la maltraitance des enfants, particulièrement massives dans les pays pauvres, et le manque d’eau dans de plus en plus d’endroits de notre si belle planète.
Une fable onirique ancrée dans la cruauté du réel
Croisant récit au présent, flash-backs et dialogues, la pièce débute par la parole d’une grand-mère qui raconte l’histoire de sa petite-fille Sofia, qui possédait un don précieux, celui de verser des larmes d’eau douce, permettant ainsi de sauver son village de la sécheresse mais pas de la cupidité des hommes. Dans une très belle scénographie circulaire tissée de mémoire et matière végétales et façonnée par Sandrine Lamblin, la fable entrelace théâtre, marionnettes, ombres et musique, avec cette délicatesse élégante et cette appétence pour l’invisible qui caractérisent l’univers d’Alain Batis et la Mandarine Blanche.
