Laurent Cuniot signe ici un monodrame – un opéra à une voix – sur un livret de Maryline Desbiolles. L’auteure d’Anchise, prix Fémina en 1999, fait ainsi sa première incursion dans le monde lyrique : « J’ai alors écrit pour Sylvia [Vadimova, l’interprète du rôle], en pensant à sa personnalité, à sa voix, sa drôlerie, sa pétulance… Le personnage, ici, c’est la voix incarnée de Sylvia ». Après déjà plusieurs expériences d’écriture pour la voix, le compositeur et chef d’orchestre, qui a voulu ici « faire se rencontrer poésie, dramaturgie et musique », dit avoir trouvé avec Maryline Desbiolles « la langue et l’imaginaire forts qui permettent de répondre à ce bel équilibre ». Les musiciens de TM+ sont les évidents complices de cette création.
