La vie toujours travaille l’être à même la chair, elle inscrit son récit au revers de la peau, y marque en silence ses coups et blessures, ses plaisirs et désirs. Chez Angela Laurier, elle a gravé profond les déchirements d’une histoire familiale douloureuse. Québécoise, née parmi neuf enfants, elle parle de son frère aîné, Dominique, schizophrène interné en hôpital psychiatrique, de son père, autrefois jeune homme dépressif qui lui aussi a subi des électrochocs. « Ma famille, je la porte en moi, c’est d’abord mon père et mon frère, que je filme pour rester objective. » dit-elle. Du Québec à l’Alaska, la caméra les suit, capte leurs paroles, leurs visages. En scène, Angela Laurier, contorsionniste, s’arc-boute devant les images projetées, pousse son corps au seuil de la rupture, frôle le déséquilibre, roule, se tord, entre en résistance. Loin de tout exhibitionnisme doloriste, Déversoir démystifie la folie et raconte avec tendresse les maux qui habitent nos corps.
