Directeur du Théâtre de la Mezzanine, Denis Chabroullet est connu pour ses spectacles évocateurs mêlant images et son, sans paroles. Didon et Enée de Purcell, présenté ce mois-ci à Rungis, constitue sa première incursion dans le monde de l’opéra. « On peut voir sous différents aspects cette histoire d’amour qui ne fonctionne pas. Il y a la lâcheté des hommes, mais peut-être aussi, à travers l’anéantissement de Carthage, une réflexion sur la disparition actuelle de l’Europe face à l’Asie, notamment face à la Chine », nous expliquait Denis Chabroullet lors de la création du spectacle, dont la particularité du décor est d’être en partie immergée. La distribution vocale convoque de jeunes voix prometteuses : Anne Rodier, Mayuko Karasawa, Roselyne Bonnet des Tuves, Antonia Bosco, Benjamin Clée… La direction musicale est assurée par Jean-Marie Puissant, chef de chœur de premier plan.
