« Je suis à la fois futile, utile et instructeur / Je suis le message d’hier, destiné à demain, transmis à travers aujourd’hui » fait dire Amadou Hampâté Bâ au conte. Mettant la tradition orale au service d’une histoire contemporaine, Philippe Altier, comédien passionné par l’art du conte, invente un drôle de petit personnage taraudé par des questions délicates : les croyances, la différence, la mort, l’amour et le respect. Aidé par sa grand-mère qui lui fournit les clés nécessaires pour affronter la vie, « Dis-moi » apprend peu à peu que « la parcelle d’intelligence de chacun, c’est certainement l’autre ». Un mythe des Indiens Lakkota, un conte asiatique, des histoires venues d’Afrique occidentale, des récits d’Europe : Philippe Altier mastique les mots et mixe les influences, les styles et les images. Chaque histoire est accompagnée par un instrument différent (potée, calebasse à eau, frottement de balais sur toile, caisse de batterie de cuisine, balafon) et l’univers sonore créé par Benoît Perset contribue à installer les aventures de « Dis-moi » entre tradition et modernité, dans le dialogue constant entre l’héritage du récit et l’aventure de grandir.
