Qu’ont donc en commun Nathalie Natiembé , Buika et Sandra Nkaké ? L’Afrique de leurs origines ? Leur couleur de peau ? Oui, mais il faudrait être sourd aux bruits du monde créolisé pour se résoudre à de tels déterminismes « raciaux » aussi fétides que les débats sur l’identité nationale. Non, ce qui réunit ces trois femmes est sans doute l’incertain sens de l’oblique, qui les a fait patienter aux portes de la gloire, là où de plus jeunes, plus polies, y sont arrivées plus vite. Elles partagent aussi un certain grain de soul. La musique de l’âme, c’est bien cela qu’elles chantent chacune avec son propre accent.
Trois fortes personnalités
Chacune des phrases de la Réunionnaise Nathalie Nathiembé porte en elle les traces bien audibles du maloya, cet espèce de blues qui témoigne d’une autre réalité sous les tropiques. Grandie dans une famille de musiciens, émancipée aux grandes heures de la contre-culture, elle en donne sa vision, roots et rauque, reggae et psyché… Le chant de l’Espagnole Buika est tout aussi original : celle qui confie avoir eu pour seconde mère la divine féministe Chavela Vargas manie aussi bien le blues que le flamenco, les mots doux et les élans passionnés. Qu’importe la matière, pourvu qu’il y ait la manière, et elle vous prend aux tripes, sans vous lâcher. Sandra Nkaké elle aussi est du genre tenace, toujours prête à laisser exploser sa verve et son verbe qu’elle a haut perchés, ou bien profondément enfouis au cœur de son corps. Comme ce soir, où la native de Yaoundé se lance dans un voyage dans le monde des musiques, le temps d’un « dialogue à cinq voix » intitulé « Penda ».
