“Dom Juan est celui qui, au milieu des clowns, n’entend pas faire le clown. Quand il s’y essayera, il n’y parviendra d’ailleurs pas. Et le paradoxe veut qu’il passe pour un clown en tentant d’échapper à la clownesque hypocrisie ambiante». Thierry Surace incarne ce Dom Juan dont il co-signe également la mise en scène. Héros moderne, anticonformiste, promis à une fin tragique, seul contre tous, refusant de se repentir faussement, décidé à ne pas rentrer dans la norme, il reste celui qu’il est, quitte à en mourir. L’extrême pertinence de cette mise en scène et son parti pris, burlesque, fait entendre toute l’actualité – la cruauté ? – du propos. « Nous avons d’abord travaillé Dom Juan de façon classique pour approcher ce qui nous paraissait essentiel, absolument nécessaire, serrer au plus près l’intention qui était la nôtre. Les dispositifs scénographiques attestent de cette aspiration. Au sol, un disque comme une piste aux étoiles mais posé en équilibre sur une pointe. Si l’un d’entre nous fait un mouvement, tous les autres sont obligés de bouger également. C’est le joyau invisible de cette mise en scène ». Quant aux nez rouges, « ces plus petits masques » selon Mario Gonzalès, arborés par les acteurs de la compagnie Miranda, ils en sont les joyaux visibles.
