D’une part, celle de la loi humaine qui interdit l’inceste, parce qu’il mène à l’abîme ; d’autre part, celle qui relève de l’amour des jumeaux Annabella et Giovanni, qui n’aspirent inconsciemment qu’à une chose : retourner à la sphère utérine. » Soucieux d’investir toute l’arrogance comme toute l’évidence de l’amour liant les deux frère et sœur, le metteur en scène a voulu prolonger l’effronterie de l’auteur élisabéthain en s’engageant dans ce que lui-même envisage comme une forme d’insolence : le dépouillement. « J’ai élaboré une représentation prenant place au sein d’un espace entièrement nu, déclare-t-il.
