Lecture radicale et d’une précision théâtrale remarquable, ce Don Giovanni signé par le cinéaste autrichien Michael Haneke (Palme d’or à Cannes avec Le Ruban blanc en 2009) fut en 2006 sa première tentative dans le domaine lyrique. Passée de la scène du Palais Garnier à celle de l’Opéra Bastille dès l’année suivante, elle gagna encore en puissance dramaturgique, implacable et glaçante. Pour cette reprise, la distribution reste dominée par le Don Giovanni de Peter Mattei ; ses victimes sont désormais la Donna Anna de Patricia Petibon et la Donna Elvira de Véronique Gens. Après Les Noces de Figaro et Cosi fan tutte, le chef Philippe Jordan poursuit dans la fosse son parcours mozartien.
