« C’est pas moi qui m’amuserais à trimballer des fardeaux pareils, je les fais porter au patron ! », lance Justin dans Dormez, je le veux ! Hypnotisant son maître pour le faire travailler à sa place, ce domestique provoque un embrouillamini qui mettra en danger les projets de mariage de son employeur. Centrée sur la question de l’égalité sociale et de l’émancipation, cette comédie satirique de Georges Feydeau offre un contrepoint intéressant à Instructions aux domestiques, écrit du XVIIIe siècle dans lequel Jonathan Swift conseille aux employés de maison de transgresser l’ordre établi en se livrant à un « sabotage productif ». En faisant se répondre ces deux textes, Lisa Wurmser choisit d’interroger la notion de changement, de montrer que « l’idéal d’une société utopique ne consiste pas à renverser les rôles mais à en établir de nouveaux ».
