Dorothy, l’épouvantail, le robot mécanique… Le Magicien d’Oz est un monument de la littérature enfantine, et le chorégraphe Anthony Egéa, habitué des métissages et de l’alliance entre énergie et expressivité, a imaginé en 2013 d’en faire une pièce chorégraphique. Une relecture qui vient déplacer bon nombre d’attentes et de postures convenues : d’abord par le fait de concevoir à partir de ce roman américain du début du XXe siècle une pièce hip-hop, ce qui inscrit d’emblée la prise de distance avec l’univers original. Les mouvements saccadés, les spirales vertigineuses du hip-hop donnent aux situations une profondeur insoupçonnée, ouvrant la pluralité des lectures possibles. Mais on peut saluer également le choix de transposer un conte en solo : dans une scénographie pleine de mystères et d’inventions, Vanessa Petit interprète seule tous les personnages. La narration se fait alors navigation, dans les détours et les remous d’un monde intérieur.
