Théâtre du Chien qui Fume / de Jeanne Béziers, d’après le roman de Bram Stoker / mes David Teysseyre
Eros et Thanatos, l’homme et la bête, le bien et le mal : autant de thèmes que l’on retrouve dans Dracula. A ceux-là, David Teysseyre et Jeanne Béziers ont choisi d’ajouter celui de l’amour et du devoir, en interrogeant ce qui a transformé Vlad en Dracula, ce pacte mystérieux passé avec le diable pour venger la bien-aimée du voïvode valaque. En 1462, Vlad l’Empaleur quitte la Transylvanie et sa femme pour combattre les Turcs au nom de Dieu et pour la gloire du trône hongrois. Il rentre victorieux, mais sa bien-aimée, le croyant mort, a mis fin à ses jours. Fou de douleur, Vlad renie sa foi et devient Dracula pour venger la mort de son amour. Quatre siècles plus tard, il découvre le portrait d’une jeune anglaise, Mina. La ressemblance avec son amour perdu ne peut être le fruit du hasard… Dans une ambiance rappelant le gothique anglais de la fin du XIXème siècle, le Théâtre du Cabestan mêle l’humour et l’émotion, pour un spectacle jouant de l’attirance et de la répulsion, de la pitié et de la peur…
