Un titre façon western, mais une épopée qui prend sa source dans l’Amérique de Steinbeck. Mathurin Bolze puise son inspiration dans l’histoire de Lennie et George (Des Souris et des Hommes), et c’est sans doute les rapports entre les deux hommes qui ont fait naître chez le circassien l’envie de chercher de nouvelles pistes de jeu. La scénographie, signée du fidèle collaborateur Goury, est un véritable support aux évolutions des corps, transbahutés dans une architecture qui ne demande qu’à les emporter plus loin. On ressent à travers ce projet la filiation assumée de Bolze, interprète remarqué chez le chorégraphe François Verret (Kaspar Konzert, Chantier Musil, Sans Retour). Même appétit ici pour les grands textes qui structurent les pièces, ou pour les décors qui font emprise sur les corps.
Des influences variées
Mathurin Bolze est un homme de collaborations : Verret, mais aussi Nadj, Kitsou Dubois structurent son travail d’interprète, faisant de ce circassien le plus aérien des danseurs. Il suit d’un œil extérieur Xavier Kim, le collectif GdRA ou Jérôme Thomas. Il s’associe également avec le belge Hedi Thabet, pour une courte forme devenue véritable petite perle (Ali). Récemment couronné par le Prix des Arts du Cirque de la SACD, il joue avec Du goudron et des plumes une nouvelle histoire : grande forme pour grande scène, cette création déploie son énergie pour faire vivre un monde déraciné, instable et ballant où les hommes sont propulsés ou écrasés. Des liens se nouent, des histoires s’écrivent, dans l’éveil d’un monde à construire et de nouvelles terres à accoster. Mathurin Bolze oppose le vivant à une machinerie contraignante mais créatrice, métaphore de notre monde en constant déplacement.
